Quadrupole ICP mass spectrometer
NexION 350D, Perkin Elmer. Was installed in 2015.
A quadrupole ICP-MS with a universal cell between the ion lens and the quadrupole mass separator. In reaction mode, molecular ions react with reactive gases (such as NH3) and are removed among the ions that have passed through the ion lens. On the other hand, the target atomic ions enter the mass separation section without being affected by the reaction gas, are separated by the mass-to-charge ratio (m/z) and then reach the detection section. Therefore, the detection limit for Fe, Ca, etc., which are subject to interference from molecular ions, is significantly lower.
The simultaneous multi-element quantification of approximately 70 elements is possible at the ppt (10-12) level.
This device is used for monitoring and researching heavy metals in experiment discharge in the Uji area.
